08 Feb What if you took a look at your life through a different window? What would you see?
A young couple moved into a new house. The following day while they were eating breakfast, the young woman saw her neighbour hanging the washing outside.
“That laundry is not very clean; she doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better soap powder.” Her husband looked on, remaining silent.
Every time her neighbour hung her washing out to dry, the young woman made the same comments.
A month later, the woman was surprised to see nice clean washing on the line and said to her husband, “Look, she’s finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her?”
The husband replied, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.”

And so it is with life…
What we see depends on the clarity of the window we look through. How could we reframe this story, so it’s not about judging others – but instead reflects on our own lives.
When you look out into the world, what do you see?
Are you looking through a clean window? Do you feel like your goals are out of reach? Do you fail to see what you have, because you are focused on what isn’t working? Or do you see lack and what is missing?
Take another look through a different window?
What do you see?
What if you were grateful for the things you do have, the small things – and what is working. The kindness of your family, your beautiful home, a career that you love, friends you like hanging out with, happy and thriving children, and money to pay your bills; would you see your life differently?
I wanted to share the story with you because I believe life is about the perspective we bring to every situation and how we see things.
When we are grateful for what we have, do we find our own true wealth.
I have been where you are right now.
